The Prototype for My Solarpunk Game! | Project Tactile Devlog 2

What's up Cowpoke, it's DipperDesperado, and welcome to The Ranch! In this devlog, we'll be talking about the prototype of project tactile.

For the prototype, I first thought about what features I thought that I would need for the game. the basic mechanics I'd need for the main character are movement, combat, and world interaction. I am still working on world interaction, so we'll be able to see that in the next devlog.

Movement

First up is talking about the movement for the prototype. You can run, you can jump, pretty standard fare here. With the focus being on the storytelling, I wanted to keep the movement responsive but simple. That way, most people can just hop in and experience the game the way it was meant to be.

Combat

Combat is also in there, and there's also not a ton to be said about this aspect of the game design. There is a hitbox, and when you click, anything inside of the hitbox that is marked as an enemy will take damage. do enough damage, and you will take that enemy out! This is basic, but will hopefully a little more intrigue to the basic gameplay loop.

Final Thoughts

In the next devlog, we'll be talking about vertical slices, which will kind of show the type of gameplay you can expect from the game, and will be the first time you can play the game! We will also be working towards having the first trailer for the game out in a couple of weeks, along with the official name reveal(project tactile is a codename lmao)! It's gonna be an exciting time. If you wanna be able to play the game before anyone else, join the discord so you can see when the demos go live. You can also follow my socials to follow the development of the game. This has been dipperdesperado, and thanks for visiting the ranch. See y'all in the next one. Peace!
