Introducing Project Tactile | Devlog 0

What's up Cowpoke, it's DipperDesperado, and welcome to The Ranch! We'll be talking about my new game I'm starting development on, codenamed Project Tactile.

Before I get started, I want to let you guys know two things. First, I'm planning to stream the development of the game every day on twitch. Also, I've made a discord for everyone, and you can join it if you want to get early testing access to the game, and if you want to just hang out with other cowpoke, then come on in!

My goal for project tactile is for it to be a narrative driven, solarpunk styled platformer with action elements. Basically, you play as a girl named Remy, and your goal is to save the world.

To start off with figuring out the finer details of the game, I laid out the plan for how I'm going to get the game in front of people. I started off by thinking very broadly about what I want to do with this project. I decided that I want to explore some themes from the solarpunk genre, along with some design inspirations from the "walking simulator" genre of games. If I had to summarize it, i'd say this.

Project Tactile is a solarpunk action platformer with a focus on engaging narrative.

I'm planning to release the game on PC, for free. It'll be short, and mostly done as a learning experience, so I'm cool with that.

I'm setting a tentative release date for [REDACTED]

I'll post daily on the social media for the game, so that people can see progress every day.

For the story of the game, I'll leave that vague so that I won't spoil it too much. What I'll say now is that I want to explore the themes of legacy, collectivism, Sustainability, and Maslow's hierarchy of needs. You will also explore different spots in the world.

Figuring out what I want to do for the world itself, I gathered a lot of visual information for what the character could look like and the world itself. The visual langauge of the game will be inspired by games like indivisible and hollow knight, and art noveau.

And that's it! I'll be back soon with more information on the game. If you're interested to follow the progress in real time, follow my socials, join the discord, and most importantly, tune into the Twitch.
